“Richard, It was certainly a pleasure meeting you today. Your presentation surpassed my expectations and
left me feeling empowered. With so much to think about in our lives today it is easy to let our guard down.
We become complacent and feel a false sense of security. It is frightening to think about all the times I
could have been one of those “easy victims”. Your connection with the audience personalized the training
for each of us. All attendees remarked how much they learned and how the short time you spent with us will
make such a difference in their day to day personal security habits. Thank you again for your gift of time
and presentation talent. There are so many others on our campus that would benefit from your presentation
and I look forward to your next visit.
Linda Corbin, Director of Facilities, Lone Star College – Montgomery
Richard Bloom presented to our Region 4 ESC staff today. The session was very informative and entertaining –
despite the seriousness of the subject. The session was free of charge. He does have safety products available
for sale after the session, but there is no “hard sale” tactics used in any way and no obligation to buy anything.
Our staff who attended all got something out of it that they could take with them to incorporate into their daily
lives to make themselves less likely to be a target of violent crime. If you are interested in having Richard
speak to your central office or to your principals and/or faculty, please contact him directly. If you have any
questions about the session, please feel free to email me.
Kurt J. Van Gilder Director, Personnel Solutions, Region 4 Education Service Center 9-14-09
To all Principals (Humble ISD): Hidden Hollow had this gentleman speak at our staff development day yesterday.
He was very entertaining and very informative. Within 10 minutes after he finished I had no less than 5 people in
my office to thank us for having him present, and then heard from others throughout the day. There is no cost for
him to come. His presentation is about 30 minutes long. I would highly recommend you schedule a visit for your
campus on a staff dev. early release day if you haven't already done so.
Carol Hunt, Hidden Hollow Elementary 2/17/09
"On Behalf of Baylor College of Medicine, thank you for presenting your Personal Safety Seminar to our
employees this week. Not only did you raise their awareness of important safety issues, you offered practical
guidelines and resources to deal with these issues. The feedback we got from the employees was very positive.
We would like to offer the same presentation at some of our satellite locations. Again, many thanks for helping
us be safer at home and work, and in between".
Harriet Spain, Manager, Employee Wellness & Work-Life

Richard, I wanted to let you know that we REALLY enjoyed your presentation on personal safety last night.
Our staff truly enjoyed every minute of your seminar! You were a wonderful speaker and did a great job of
explaining different ways we could protect ourselves in all different situations. We feel we really learned
some life saving tips! You are definitely the "talk" around the office today! Thank you for taking the
time to help keep my staff safe! ,

Dear Mr. Bloom:
I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation to you. The Staff of Mel Parmley Elementary school thoroughly
enjoyed your presentation. There were many comments about how your information opened eyes and began thought processing
for our personal safety. Your presentation was not only informative but educational. Your explanation of preventative
steps along with you demonstration of defensive moves displayed various options for all of us.
Your program was enjoyed by the whole staff.
Janie Wiggins, Principal WILLIS ISD 11/7/08

Mr. Bloom:
“It’s been almost five months since you presented a program on safety to the 86 members of the facility and staff of
our school. Even though this much time elapsed, I still hear people talking about how beneficial, helpful, informative
and humorous the information you shared was. A great number asked if we could have you back next year. Some even
suggested we invite people from other schools, parents, and even communities members to attend. I was excited to
hear them participate, ask questions and watch their faces as they intently listened to everything you shared with
us. This is quite a feat with an audience of teachers, I must admit! ………………..”
Bill Stewart, Principal Navasota Primary School

What attendees are saying
Mr. Bloom
We appreciated you coming to our class. We found your lecture and book to be very realistic and beneficial………………..
Last night I was unknowingly followed home from work by a customer who was made at me because I got off at 9 PM and I told
him 11PM to get him to leave me alone. Fortunately I didn’t have to use the spray because security heard him yelling at
me, however he was made aware of it and he backed off. But most of all I wanted to thank you for teaching me not to panic.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Galloway
Mr. Bloom:
…………….Being single I found myself short of cash. My car was being repaired and I decided I needed some exercise anyway. So
after work I began to walk as far as I could before catching a bus. I knew to keep my finger on the chemical spray trigger
inconspicuously, held at my right side as I walked through an unfamiliar neighborhood. I spotted a group of teenager’s ages
ranging from 15 to 18 years old. A very attractive female lead the pack as they broke into a run in my direction. I remember
thinking that this is not what it appears until she ran at me and grabbed at my gold necklace. That’s when my right arm came
up and I sprayed her in the face. She went down and I continued walking swiftly away. The other members soon regrouped and
started towards me. I turned and squared off saying something like who else wants what your friend got? They must have thought
about it, turned and walked away.
I attribute my survival that day to your awareness lecture (with wisdom and humor) a preparedness from being aware, and especially
the chemical spray. Thank you so much for possibly saving my life.
