Mr. Bloom
We appreciated you coming to our class. We found your lecture and book to be very realistic and beneficial…
Last night I was unknowingly followed home from work by a customer who was made at me because I got off at 9 PM and I told him 11PM to get him to leave me alone. Fortunately I didn’t have to use the spray because security heard him yelling at me, however he was made aware of it and he backed off. But most of all I wanted to thank you for teaching me not to panic.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Galloway
Mr. Bloom:
…Being single I found myself short of cash. My car was being repaired and I decided I needed some exercise anyway. So after work I began to walk as far as I could before catching a bus. I knew to keep my finger on the chemical spray trigger inconspicuously, held at my right side as I walked through an unfamiliar neighborhood. I spotted a group of teenager’s ages ranging from 15 to 18 years old. A very attractive female lead the pack as they broke into a run in my direction. I remember thinking that this is not what it appears until she ran at me and grabbed at my gold necklace. That’s when my right arm came up and I sprayed her in the face. She went down and I continued walking swiftly away. The other members soon regrouped and started towards me. I turned and squared off saying something like who else wants what your friend got? They must have thought about it, turned and walked away.
I attribute my survival that day to your awareness lecture (with wisdom and humor) a preparedness from being aware, and especially the chemical spray. Thank you so much for possibly saving my life.
